The Road to Hana

The road to Hana is a narrow, twisty 36+ mile trip through a

tropical rainforest. , with stunning views of the

ocean and

bays.

They've fixed up the road in the last few years, it used to be all lane and a half, with one lane bridges.

Many of the sections are still too narrow for two cars to pass, and almost all the bridges are one lane (and are maked 1910 or 1911).

Here's some more shots from the road:

Just before reaching Hana, there's a small bay

with a black sand beach.

Nearby, a small trail

leads down to a sea cave.

Around Hana they raise a lot of cattle.

It's hard to tell, but this shot is looking up the side of one BIG mountan. East Maui is really just one volcano, (two miles tall!) and the road to Hana goes about a third of the way around it.

Still to Come: More Maui!
